Just like you, we believe that the experiences that youth can gain in Scouting are vital to the development of the boys and girls of today. Scouting is an important tool to help families to shape these young people into the heroes of tomorrow. Whether it is the feeling of accomplishment at learning a new knot, the wonder they feel when they hike to the top of a mountain, or those quiet moments around the campfire, Scouting is a life changing experience.
We know that these kids are important and that Scouting will be a true asset to them. Because of this, we are dedicated to continuing this important movement during this difficult time. We also take our mandate to provide a healthy and responsible climate for youth seriously. Because of this, we have put together a plan to continue Scouting this fall as safely as we can.
Here's the gameplan:
-We have two options for Scouting- In-Person and Virtual. Scouts can switch from one to the other at any time if they choose.
-Troops and Dens can currently meet in person as long as they hold to the Council Guidelines. (which are based on state and CDC guidelines) You can find it at the bottom of the page.
-We are asking everyone to meet on the same schedule in case national and state health standards change. If everyone needs to transition to virtual for a little while, we want to make sure that we are all on the same page. The schedule is linked at the bottom of the page.
-Virtual meetings will be held over Zoom. They will feature a local leader teaching a lesson and will be interactive. Scheduling and advancement will be handled through the Scoutbook system. We will also have online merit badges and Virtual tours of local attractions each Saturday. Anyone is welcome to join.
-Since we aren't able to visit schools like we normally do, it is more important than ever for us to reach out to our friends and encourage them to join Scouts. Registration is online at https://scoutingevent.com/413-Join
