2024 Conquistador Council Executive Board
The Council Executive Board for 2024, is comprised of a dynamic group of dedicated volunteers committed to shaping the futures of our community's youth. With diverse backgrounds and expertise, these individuals bring invaluable perspectives and skills to their roles. Their unwavering dedication to Scouting principles and youth development is evident in their tireless efforts to support and empower young people. As stewards of the Boy Scouts of America's mission, they embody the spirit of service and leadership, driving positive change and fostering growth within our community. Together, they stand as champions for our youth, inspiring and guiding them towards success.
Matt Eales
Matt serves as the Vice President of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Regulatory for Lucid Energy Group, a midstream gas processing company with operations in southeast New Mexico. Before working with Lucid Energy Group, Matt served in various operations and EH&S leadership roles in oil and gas services and upstream companies both within the US and worldwide. Matt earned an MSc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Kansas and paid for the degree by working nights for 7 years as a general maintenance technician for the Lawrence, KS school district.
Matt started out in Wichita, KS, and moved through Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Cheney, KS, and Valley Center, KS, respectively, with his mother’s and father’s active participation. He’s honored to have achieved the Eagle Scout Rank which was driven and motivated strongly by his parents, Bob and Sherry Eales, grandfather, Perry “Steamboat” VanOsdol, and other family members who led the way.
Matt first visited New Mexico to hike Philmont and never stopped returning to New Mexico’s beauty. Working out of Dallas and Artesia, with travel requirements to Santa Fe, Matt always finds time to hike, camp, fly fish, or ski the mountains on time off.
Matt has served in varied voluntary leadership roles with a focus on assisting young men and women to become successful throughout life in both scouting and church youth groups. He has also focused on serving in roles such as Board of Trustees to give back his years of experience in general maintenance work.
Juliana Halverson
Juliana Halvorson currently serves as the Vice President and Marketing Director for Pioneer Bank. Juliana has been working with Pioneer Bank since 2013. Prior to joining Pioneer she owned her own marketing business in Roswell.
She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University - Roswell with a Graphic Design degree. Juliana is no stranger to Scouting having been active with her late husband, John, and Troop 2 in Roswell.
In her free time, Juliana enjoys volunteering, photography, and traveling. Very active in our community Juliana currently serves as an Executive Board Member for Walker Aviation Museum, is President for MainStreet Roswell, and helps with many other non-profit organizations, including the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. She is a 2018 graduate of Leadership New Mexico and has continued to
serve on the Curriculum Committee since her graduation. Juliana has received numerous awards and recognition for her commitment to service. She was named Chaves County Person of Character in 2011, was given the Excellence in Broadcasting award in 2011, and New Mexico Parks and Recreation
Volunteer of the Year Award in 2011.
Juliana will be joining the Conquistador Council Executive Board to serve on our Marketing and Public Relations Committee.
Katie Espinosa Newton
Katie Espinosa Newton serves as the Right of Way Landman for the Mewboure Oil Company in Hobbs, NM. Katie has taken on many different positions in the oil and gas industry, and the most recent was serving the New Mexico State Land Office as a District Resource manager for five years.
Originally from Roswell, New Mexico, Katie grew up in Southeast New Mexico and participated in the Girl Scouts program for twelve years. After high school, Katie stayed in South Eastern New Mexico and attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales for her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Economics. While earning her degree, she was a Girl Scout leader for two years and interned with the
New Mexico State University 4-H Extension Program for four years. After graduation, Katie earned her Master of Science in Strategic Human resources.
Katie has a passion for volunteering and service to the community. For the past seven years, Katie has served as a National Officer for the Zeta Tau Alpha Women's Fraternity, focusing on alumnae membership, recruitment, and chapter development. She currently serves as the District President of
Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah oversee seven alumnae chapters. Katie has served on the Eastern New Mexico Alumnae board and other local nonprofit organizations.
Katie enjoys hunting, camping, and traveling with her husband and son. Joining the ScoutsBSA program in 2018 has opened up many more opportunities for them to enjoy this together.
Ana Arnett
Ana Arnett, M.D., currently serves as a board-certified Family Physician and is proud to serve the people of Chaves County at Arnett Medical.
Ana is a native of Roswell, graduating from Roswell High. She lived in Albuquerque for 9 years where she attended the University of New Mexico for undergraduate studies and medical school. After her internship at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, she returned to Roswell as a resident of the Eastern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program.
As a resident, Dr. Arnett participated in leadership training with the National Hispanic Medical Association. She also served as chief resident. After residency, Dr. Arnett worked at the Valley Health Clinic in Dexter, NM for fourteen years before deciding to open a private practice.
In her free time, Ana enjoys reading, traveling, camping, and spending time with her family. Ana currently serves Scouting as Scoutmaster for Troop 7 and as a Chartered Organization Representative for Assumption Catholic Church. Ana also serves on the Assumption Parish Council. Ana’s husband Bobby is an Eagle Scout and has served in a variety of roles in the Conquistador Council. Ana has two children, William and Victoria. William is an Eagle Scout out of Troop 149 and Victoria is a Charter Member of Troop 7.
Ana will be joining the Conquistador Council Executive Board to serve on our Risk Management Committee.
Jimmy Allison
Jimmy Allison, a native New Mexican is retired after 49 years in the retail powersports industry. He spent the last 38 years operating his own business here in Roswell where he lives with his wife.
Jimmy joined the Boy Scouts at 11 and remained active until discovering motorcycles at age 16. He earned the Star rank and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.
Jimmy served as Cubmaster of Pack 2 in Roswell for five years before becoming involved in various roles in Troop 72 for seven years where his son attained the Eagle rank. He currently serves as assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 07 where his grand-daughter is a member.
Jimmy is a 55-year member of the American Motorcyclist Association. He serves as President of the Zia chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America and treasurer of Roswell Masonic Lodge #18.
In his free time, he enjoys reading, traveling in his RV, working and riding his antique motorcycles, and spending time with his grandkids.
Jimmy currently serves as Vice President of District Operations of the Conquistador Council along with the Executive Board and Executive Council.
Mike Hunter
Mike Hunter worked for the City of Roswell for over 20 years as the City Chemist. He managed the Water and Wastewater Laboratory where he ran complex testing and analysis to ensure municipal drinking water and wastewater met environmental standards. After leaving employment with the City of Roswell, Mike worked at the Office of the State Engineer. As a State of New Mexico Watermaster, he managed the allotment of water a permit holder was entitled to use. Mike is fully retired at this time.
Originally from Florida, Mike has lived in many places throughout the United States. After graduating high school, Mike attended Phillips University and graduated with degrees in Chemistry and Biology. Mike has lived in New Mexico for the past 30-plus years.
Having a passion for serving youth, Mike has held many scouting positions serving both local units and at the national level. He is Wood Badge trained and a past Wood Badge course director. He is a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow. Mike has served as staff for three National Jamborees and two National Order of the Arrow Conferences (NOAC). He has been to Philmont and Northern Tier High Adventure Bases as an adult contingent leader.
Mike has been honored with several awards including the Silver Antelope, Silver Beaver, District Award of Merit, William T. Hornaday Gold Badge as well as the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award.
Mike enjoys camping, hiking, and traveling throughout the United States. Joining the BSA has given Mike many opportunities to help youth throughout the country while making lifelong friends with many BSA enthusiasts
Chris Lauderman
Chris Lauderman works as an attorney within the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, specifically serving as the career law clerk to a federal judge based in Roswell, New Mexico. Prior to his current job, Chris spent five years in the private sector, litigating on behalf of clients at Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC in Morgantown, West Virginia, and after that at Carson Ryan, LLC in Roswell, New Mexico. After graduating from law school, Chris clerked on both the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Chris graduated from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Economics and Journalism. He went on to graduate from Washington and Lee University School of Law. He graduated magna cum laude from both undergrad and law school.
Chris grew up in West Virginia. He began cub scouting in second grade and continued through Boy Scouts with his troop in St. Marys, West Virginia. He obtained the rank of Eagle in 2000.
Chris lives in Artesia with his wife, Kay Younggren, a dentist. They spend their free time traveling the world. In addition to scouting, Chris is involved in the Roswell Rotary Club and Christ’s Church in Roswell, New Mexico.
Cheryl Allen
Cheryl Allen serves as the Committee Chair for Pack 300 (since 2014) and Troop 97 (since 2017). She has also served as a Committee Member for Troop 321 from 2011 to 2019. She was involved with Pack 321 as a Committee Member and Committee Chair from 2018-2019. She served as a Unit Commissioner from 2013-2015 in Oil Patch District. Cheryl has also stepped in to serve as Den Leader over many dens as needed throughout the years when there were no leaders available. Cheryl was the Day Camp Director for Oil Patch District from 2013-2015 and has served on the Oil Patch District as a Member-at-large since 2017 to present, and a merit badge councilor from 2013 to present.
Cheryl was awarded the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award in 2017. She attended WoodBadge in 2016 and has been a member of the Order of the Arrow since 2018. She currently holds the honor of Brotherhood.
Cheryl attended college in Weatherford, OK at Southwestern University of Oklahoma. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Record Administration. She has lived in Hobbs, NM since 1997. Prior to being involved in Scouting, she was involved with CASA as a Court Appointed Advocate and sat on the Citizen Review Board for Children, Youth, and Families Department. She also served on the Board of the Family Center.
Cheryl is married and has three children, two sons and one daughter. Her sons are both active in scouting and her daughter was involved with scouting in one form or another before she went to college at Texas Tech. In her free time Cheryl enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Cheryl joins the Conquistador Council Executive Board to serve as a member at large.
Brenner Campbell
Brenner Campbell, President of Brenner Investments, has cultivated a
successful career in real estate since founding Brenco Homes in 2002.
His journey began at Baylor University, where he worked in
construction and initiated his foray into real estate.
After graduating in 2000, he crafted sales programs for industry leaders
like B&S Port-o-Jons and IESI. Brenco Homes rapidly rose to
prominence, becoming a top retailer in Texas. Campbell expanded his
ventures with Brenner Real Estate Investments and Lorena Construction
in 2002-3, evolving into Brenner Investments.
While achieving success in property development, construction, and
investment advice, he also served as an Air Force Reserves Chaplain
from 2014 to 2022. A devoted family man, Brenner is actively involved
in community service and Scouting, drawing on his own experience as a
Life-ranked Scout. A Baylor University graduate in Religion with a Master of
Divinity, Brenner remains dedicated to his family, faith, and community
pursuits.
